Gamma 19: August 2022
Chapter 1 is coming soon!
Remember when I said that last month was quite a busy one? Well this month has been extremely busy. We have been working very hard to get chapter 1 finished a week before the Steam Next Fest. GOD I LOVE CRUNCH TIME🤓! By the way school has started for me again(It will never end😬.) The final boss for this chapter is basically done. All that is left for the junkyard is to make the remaining assets, add in the battles, and add in the cutscenes. There's probably more left, but let's pretend there's not.
Steam Next Fest
Be there or be ⬛!
We are a month away from the Steam Next Fest and we are trying our best to get this demo ready for it. Our plan is to release the Steam demo a week before the fest so that way we can take advantage of the new and trending page, and get some early feedback. We might do a private test before all of that if we finish the demo ahead of time. Worst case, we skip this festival and just hold a private testing for the discord.
Tiktok
Zoomer Vine!
In case you haven't heard, we have a Tiktok! I made it a while back, but never really uploaded much. Recently I have been trying my best to understand how to market a game and Tiktok is a nice tool to get some attention.
Sacrifice
Take journey through Hell!

A while back, a good friend of mine began working on his own comic called Sacrifice. A quick summary, a man named Damien Blackwell had his soul tied to Lucifer when he was an infant. He was going to be sacrificed to summon Lucifer, but the angels intervened and prevented the ceremony from being completed. However now if Damien dies, it will lead to the summoning of Lucifer. I was amazed by the work that he and his team were able to accomplish and the process he went through doing so. He asked if I could give his new kickstarter a shout out. So check it out here!
Sandy Rework
Like a Boss!
After reworking the enemy code, Sandy's code broke as it extended from the base enemy code. My original idea to fix this was by making a base boss code to then extend from. However I came up with a better idea. Just use the new enemy code. By using the state machines, all of the boss logic can be handled in individual states instead of one script. So now enemies and bosses are one in the same. This means less code to maintain. I think I managed to do this in 2 days. I was able to reuse most of Sandy's original code with some changes.
Rainbow Shader
RGB LED.

I finally figured out how to do this effect! You would be surprised how long it took me to do this. This effect is very important to our game.
Improved Enemy Movement
Step it Up!
Since the beginning, enemies have always had some issues when it came to moving around. If you position yourself correctly, you can get the enemy stuck on an object making them flip out. Now they have figured out how to walk around objects. We are doomed.
Camera Zoom
Zoom Zoom Zoom!
Added a bit of dynamic camera action as you fight enemies. I think it adds to the experience.
Scrap Demon
A big guy with an even bigger punch!
While the origin of the scrap rats is unknown, it is known that they don't get very big. The Scrap Demon recently came into power and now leads the scrap rats. Where this monstrosity came from no one knows, but it certainly isn't natural.
Demon by Gbone
When the Scrap Demon gets angry he begins to charge straight at you. However such an unnaturally large body moving at speed comes with a downside. Sliding under him while he is charging trips him.
Make sure to trip him under a forge hammer to break his shield and dish out big damage. Don't stick around for too long or else you are going to feel the heat of the sun.

Too much art for me to cover!

The End
Final thoughts.

This month and the coming one are going to be rough on me. I was struggling to make this blog as work and school really take a toll. However, we are progressing faster than before and that's all that matters. If you have any questions, comments, concerns or testimonies let us know in our Discord.
